This includes active involvement in product feature definition, hardware feature requirements, hardware bring-up, customer documentation, future technology integration, and available software leverage. All projects involve coordination with internal and external development teams. Enabling others is as important as personal contribution.

Below is a specific example of the positions that open up as we grow.

Software Design Engineer

The primary function of the Engineer is to design, implement, test, validate, and maintain embedded software for network hardware systems.

This position is targeted for development of IPv4 and IPv6 related protocols and embedded applications. This involves both HW dependent and HW independent code and encompasses such features as routing (e.g. RIP, OSPF, VRRP), multicast (e.g. PIM, IGMP), applications such as telnet, tftp and IP host management protocols such as TCP, ICMP, ARP, etc. This team is also actively involved in security related features involving Access Control Lists (ACLs) and data convergence (data, video, voice) via QoS, rate limiting, etc. You'll need experience in TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6 Networking apps/protocols (routing, security, redundancy) and knowledge of Switch ASIC architectures/drivers.

The responsibilities include all phases of the lifecycle model with an emphasis on design for portability and scalability.

Qualifications


Musts

  • BS in CS/CE or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understands fundamentals of operating systems and networking
  • Experience with software development tools and processes
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communications skills
  • Solid understanding of software development principles
  • Programming experience in C

Desired

  • MS or advanced degree in CS/CE or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with network security
  • Experience developing and/or using networking products and protocols
  • Embedded systems programming experience
  • Knowledge of ClearCase
  • Unix/PC/Linux experience
  • Project Management experience
